Dachshund blend, 8 lbs., approx. 1 year old.
Ivy was found, abandoned on the side of a road, in some brush. She has a BFF who arrived with her at the rescue (Scarlet) and Ivy appears to be the “leader”. She is a charming little girl, with a lot of spunk. If her foster mom leaves the house, even briefly, Ivy greets her happily and follows her all around the house. Upon arriving on transport, she was extremely frightened, however she warmed up once she knew she was safe and loved. New people and situations still keep her cautious, but she turns it around after a while.
Potty training is a work in progress. She is learning a lot from her foster dog family, who have been showing her the ropes and how outdoor potty time works. (She’s using the doggie door!) Once Ivy feels comfortable, you’ll see she loves nothing more than to cuddle. How can you resist that!?!?Leash training will be something to focus on for Ivy in her forever home. She is happy and when she gets excited, she will bark.
We would LOVE to see Ivy be adopted with her buddy, Scarlet, but we also know she will be just fine joining a home with another resident dog who is her size and temperament.
Untested with cats or kiddos. We always recommend solid supervision when making introductions of any sort, no matter what.
