Scooby arrived to our rescue with a broken and improperly healed (not fixable) pelvis, giving him his special needs status. He has been checked out by a veterinarian and has received the go ahead to find his forever special family.
Scooby is adorable, young, and healthy…because of his need for diapering and extra care, which will be lifelong, we are adjusting his adoption feel so his future family may focus any added financial needs toward his ongoing medical needs.
Scooby is loving and a total sweetheart. He is calm, likes to lay beside his person on the couch, sometimes with his head on your lap.
This darling boy likes to be where you are, if you leave a room he goes, too. He is playful, plays well with other small dogs and can hold his own. He is drawn to stuffed toys, or just about any dog toy…ropes, rubber bones, etc. Being a puppy, he tries to “mouth” hands, and he will stop just by telling him “No”.
Scooby responds well to his name. He can run (looks a little awkward) and play. Though it’s also a little awkward for him, he can manage the stairs up and down, to get on the couch in his foster home. (This lively little buddy will jump down to the floor, if you don’t watch him closely.)
Potty training consisted of taking Scooby out to potty every 2-3 hours. Every so often a few “poop pellets” appear on the floor because it just come out at random. His foster family keeps a belly band on him while he’s up and about during the day due to his incontinence. Changing his bedding daily will help keep Scooby clean and healthy.
When Scooby cannot be with his humans, we highly recommend using a crate to keep him contained. If put in an x-pen and his people go outside, he will pull at the gate to try and get out.
Scooby’s foster family is starting to work with him on brushing teeth. They can already brush his coat without any issue. He’s also been tested with varying sounds and found to be very tolerant of loud noises, a blender running, air conditioning, etc.
We truly love little Scooby. He is special, not just because of his “special needs”, but because he is an angel on earth. He’s a good boy, deserving of a compassionate and loving home, where he will be cared for and offered the continued quality of life he has grown accustomed to.
