LIKES: Moxie’s favorite thing is to swaddle under covers right next to you. She is a pocket puppy who loves to be held and her favorite thing is long belly scratches. She is very good with cats, happy to be with other dogs but mostly has eyes for her human. She is a good eater and loves her treats.

DISLIKES: Due to her prior circumstances, she is uneasy with attention on her neck and head. She is relaxing a bit day by day but patience is required for her to fully embrace head smooches. She is always just a bit nervous but quickly warms up to people and new dog friends.

PERSONALITY: Moxie is the smartest girl in the room and she keeps you on your toes. She is an adventurer who loves being in her yard and exploring, but her freedom must be earned as she can be an escape artist. A secure fence is essential with her in a single family home. She could also do well in an apartment with regular leashed walks. She is a bit bashful about everything right now, but the world of love and kindness is helping her blossom into doggie greatness.

POTTY TRAINING STATUS: She does well outside when taken out o a regular schedule. She is potty pad trained.

CRATE TRAINING STATUS: She doesn't enjoy being crated but isn't too destructive when left alone. She just burrows into a blankie and sleeps.

OTHER/MISC: Moxie came to us after being in a rough situation. She was mishandled and abused and needs a little time to trust her people. She warmed up in her foster home within 24 hours. She can be extra sensitive around touches at her head and neck. For this reason we do not recommend that she go to a home with children.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how MOXIE will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.

Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.
