Foster an animal
in need

Do you want to help us save dogs? Fostering is a great way of doing just that! When we receive our dogs from local owner surrenders or those brought up from high-kill shelters outside our community, most are waiting for their forever home. They need foster homes who can take in these abandoned pets and give them love until the perfect match comes along. To allow us to continue to save more dogs, we need foster providers to step forward and help us out. Don't let these sweet animals wait any longer - become a foster today!

"Fostering is one of the greatest gifts in my life. I love animals, and giving them the opportunity to grow in a safe, nurturing environment warms my heart. With Wiggly Tails, I know they will be loved, properly cared for and ready to be adopted to an appropriate home, where they will become a family member.  For me, fostering is best cure for puppy fever! I get to play, train, cuddle, so many cuddles, with these lil pups.  I enjoy being a roadstop full of loving and learning for these misplaced pups as well as the benefits associated with hilarious, rambuctious, affectionate little critters."

Fostering FAQs:

What does it take to be a foster provider?
Proximity to Eugene-Springfield

Because all of our fosters need to be within a reasonable distance to our office, veterinarian, and our partner adoption locations, fosters must live within about 45 minutes of Eugene.

Ability to keep dog(s) safe

One of your main responsibilities as a foster provider is to keep the dog safe. This may mean a fenced yard, depending on the circumstances, but also means ensuring that the dog cannot escape and is always accompanied and wearing the Wiggly Tails tag when it goes out.

Willingness to bring the dog to adoption events or to meet with potential adopters

Our rescued dogs are adopted through events at Petsmart and other businesses, as well as at our office. Potential adopters come there to meet them, but in other cases you will need to meet at their home or at a park, particularly when they have other dogs that the rescue dog needs to meet.

Taking photos and making progress reports on the dog

Our dogs are often found by adopters who see their picture and a description of them on Facebook or other social media. We rely on the foster providers to let us know how the dog is doing and to share those positive moments through pictures. You also need to let us know promptly if you have any problems with your foster dog(s).

Love and caRE

You may be the one who shows the dog that people do care, by providing socialization and the necessities of life. We provide all the needed food, pens, potty pads, crates, collar/leash, medicine, veterinary care. You provide the supervision and transportation for your dog to and from vet visits and adoption events. We ask for a two week minimum commitment for each foster dog, but most fosters keep their dog until it is adopted, which on average can take about four weeks.

Community Fundraisers

Community and business support helps us take care of the medical needs of some dogs. For the month of October 2025, Wiggly Tails Dog Rescue is the designated beneficiary of the
"Chuck-a-Buck" fundraiser at the 6th Avenue, Eugene, Mini Pet Mart. Big thanks to Twisted Duck Pub, Caught in the Act Entertainment, and Falling Sky Brewing for the Pints for Pups event in October as well. Previously in 2025 we received generous gifts from Pentagon Federal Credit Union, the Springfield Moose Club, and even a generous donation from a lemonade stand! In 2024 Wiggly Tails Dog Rescue was selected by the Social Media followers of Sweet Cheeks Winery as one of three 2024 Charitable Cheers fundraiser beneficiaries. Everything helps!
