Toriel
2 years, spayed female. 16 lb
Terrier mix
Toriel is a special case. She's one of the dogs that remind us why we do what we do. She arrived at a shelter with babies just days old. Her owner, an unhoused person, understood that he could not care for her and her babies - so he did what he thought was the best thing for this family and surrendered all of them. Stressed by losing her person and having babies to care for, she became very protective and was labeled with "maternal aggression" which is often a death sentence for the mother and the babies in an already overcrowded shelter. The shelter put out an SOS call, and Wiggly Tails answered.
While the early weeks were rough, one of our veteran fosters did not give up on Toriel. As the five puppies started to become more independent and wean, Toriel relaxed, began to trust humans again, and basically did a complete 180° in personality. She is now fixed and ready for the next and hopefully final chapter in her forever home.
Toriel is athletic, affectionate, and silly in her foster home. She loves zoomies and parkour, and will play with any dog that will reciprocate. She will give occasional notice to any house visitors, but she is not a barky dog. Most of all, she is super sweet and so full of joyful love.
Toriel is house-trained, leash-trained, crate-trained, and loves to go places in the car with her people. She is friendly towards people of all ages, other dogs, and cats.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how TORIEL will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.
Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.
We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for TORIEL as well as her future family.
