IT'S A PUGAPALOOZA!
Back in May, Wiggly Tails took in a whole family of pugs (mixes?) from a shelter. In all, there were 2 adult females, a litter of female newborn puppies belonging to one of the adults, a 6-mo male, and two 6-mo females. Behind the scenes, we have been working hard to help this scared family adjust to living in homes and opening up to the outside world.
We are happy to announce that we are now taking applications for these adorable kids!
HOLLIS is an adult female who is coming out of her shell lately - and we've discovered she is quite silly! She loves the other puppies in her foster home, and she gets along with kids and cats.
HAGEN is 6mo male who is a lover undercover. This hunk wants to sit next to you on the couch for snuggles and play with his doggy friends.
HENNA loves bigger dogs and is going great learning leash skills. She loves to be where ever her foster mom is.
HARPER is working hard to come out of her shell, starting to sit with her fosters and playing with the resident dogs.
PICKLES is the adult mom of the littles. She seems to get along with every dog she meets, and doesn't mind the cats. You really have to meet her to understand what a mixture of anxiety and hilarity she is.
STAR WARS LITTER These four adorable girls are now 8 weeks old. They have 2 rounds of deworming and one shot. We have worked hard to socialize them from a very early age, so they are not exhibiting some of the shy behaviors that the others have. You will have to work with them on potty training and house rules though!
They all get along well with other animals, are shy but friendly with people, and seem generally good natured.
What we'd like to see in our adopters for this group:
- Pug experience/knowledge. Pugs have trouble in the heat and can have their own unique issues due to their breathing. We'd love for our adopters to have knowledge of their needs.
- A securely fenced yard. With the exception of the youngest pups, these pugs will need a secure yard to potty in until they feel safe enough in their new homes to venture out. The tiny babies are not fully vaccinated, and therefore need a private place to potty until they are.
- A location close to the Eugene/Springfield area. We'd like these dogs to stay closer to home in case any problems come up. The tiny babies need to stay close by as they are not fixed, and will be booked for spays at a later date.
- A similar-sized friend at home. We have noticed that our older puppies and adults do much better in homes where they have another dog. A gentle friend will help them open up and be more playful. plus it's nice to have another dog to teach house routines.
- Patience. All of our pugs will need patient and empathetic adopters, whether it is to give them time to settle in, to give them space to get more comfortable with their new environment, or to get the little ones potty trained.

Tell us about yourself, family, other pets, and how Marika will mesh with your lifestyle. Qualifying applicants will be contacted by our Adoption Coordinator with next steps and an opportunity to set up a Meet & Greet.
Our process is NOT a “first come, first served” process. (We DO NOT hold pets for later consideration.) Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family.
We look forward to facilitating a positive and solid adoption for this sweet mama, as well as her future family.
