My name Is Asa and I am an 18 month old neutered male standard poodle, about 50 lbs.
I was born in North Carolina and my family thought I was the perfect choice, and had the breeder fly to the Eugene Airport. My pawrents picked me up and loved me and got me all the best veterinary care and fed me the best food. They had a great place for me with lots of mental stimulation, like puzzle toys and feeders.
But I kept growing so fast, and because I was still young, so I played pretty rough. My pawrents became overwhelmed, and sometimes I was so enthusiastic they would get a little sore or scrape, and this was kind of dangerous for them because they were a little older in human years. I was just playing the same way I had with my siblings, and didn’t know any better.
They researched and got advice from their vet and I spent three weeks with a trainer where I worked on containing my enthusiasm and learning some manners. I met farm animals, and my trainer taught me to run alongside him when he was on his bike, which wore me out, but it was sure fun! Knowing that I would need more physical exercise than they could provide because of their health and age, my family decided they couldn’t give me the that I needed and deserve. So they talked to Wiggly Tails Dog Rescue about finding a home that is a better fit for me.
So here I am! I am looking for an active family that loves running, hiking, or has a large property like a farm that I can run around on. I love all humans and learned a lot on the farm. I sleep in a crate at night and I’m 100% potty trained. My pawrents and vet have me on a healthy diet that I would like to keep up, and they will tell you more about that when we meet!
