MEET POPPY!
Are you looking for a super sweet Velcro dog? Meet Poppy, an 11 pound Chihuahua mix who is ready to be your best friend and cuddle buddy.
- The Vibe: At 2 years old, Poppy is very gentle, quiet and mellow. She is timid at first with new people and places and it takes her awhile to warm up, but once she knows she’s safe, she will be your forever shadow.
She loves to be on your lap or burrowing under the blankets next to you. Poppy loves to go with you wherever you go. She does have some separation anxiety and if she is left out of anything she will express her discontent by whining at you and giving you the puppy eyes.
- Hobbies: Cuddling under fuzzy blankets, walks, treats, playing with toys, car rides and just being close to you.
- Must-Haves: Poppy would benefit from a quieter environment with adults/adult children and someone willing to give her the time to settle in and warm up to her new surroundings. She will need an adopter who is familiar with rescue dogs and who lives in the Eugene/Springfield area or nearby vicinities.
She would be fine with or without a dog friend, as she’s mostly interested in people. She so far hasn’t shown interest in playing with other dogs, but does seem to appreciate their company and mimics their routines. She can be a little grumbly with other dogs if they try to share lap time with her.
A fenced yard is needed for Poppy for her safety and because she enjoys laying outside in the sun and sniffing around. She is untested on children or cats.
- The Lowdown: Crate trained (she whines and cries for about 5-10 minutes when you leave and then settles), potty trained (she is taken out on a regular schedule), rides well in the car, great on a leash and is a pure love bug!
Poppy is a true gentle soul and the purest form of unconditional love.

Our team carefully reviews and interviews applicants for the best possible fit for each adoptable pet, and potential family. Submitting an application does not guarantee a call or response from our rescue. Our volunteers will screen the applications and reach out if it is determined to be a good fit.
