Posey
1 year, spayed female, 11 lbs
Chihuahua mix
LIKES: LOVES her food, treats, walks, playing with toys (tossing, dragging, chasing and chewing) LOVES to spend nap time cuddled under a blanket attached to her human.
DISLIKES: Being bathed (although, in all fairness, I bathed her only a day after she arrived, so this could have been “new everything” stress and fatigue). Doesn't love going into the crate in the daytime, although she settles in just fine.
She gets very timid/cowers when you try to pick her up but doesn't mind being held and carried.
PERSONALITY TRAITS: She Is a high energy, eager to please, devoted, goofball. She's intelligent (has already learned the command “sit”) and inquisitive.
POTTY TRAINING STATUS: She is 99% trained and will “go potty” when encouraged and praised. She doesn't ask to go out, so she must be taken out several times during the day. It's important to give her enough time.
CRATE TRAINING STATUS: She is fully trained. She is seldom crated during the day, but when she is, it is a large metal crate, in a well-lit room with a blanket and one toy to keep her company. At night she is in a smaller crate placed next to my bed. She sleeps comfortably all night. Her wake time has varied, but she can stay in the crate for 7+ hours at night.
EXTRAS/MISC: She is still very much a puppy when it comes to her chewing, but she's not been destructive in her foster home. She is curious, kind, and has an even temperament. She is not a barker and enjoys meeting new people. She would be well-suited to a person or family who has the willingness and time to provide her with exercise, stimulation, and play time. I think she would love to be in a home with another dog. She is curious about the cat in her foster home, and with much praise she is learning to share space with it without chasing. She is a wonderful dog.
